ServiceNow | Installing Language Translation Services by Language IO
Important: The latest version is 4.0.0 (See Release Notes).
Note: Language IO for ServiceNow (Language Translation Services by Language IO) is supported in these ServiceNow versions: Australia, Zurich, and Yokohama.
Prequisites
Activating the ServiceNow Dynamic Translation
ServiceNow Dynamic Translation must be available and activated in your ServiceNow instance.
Requesting Approval to Install the Application
Important: You will need a Now Support Admin user to request approval to install the Language Translation Services by Language IO application. Once approval is granted, you may install the application in any of your ServiceNow instances.
To request approval from Language IO to install Language Translation Services by Language IO:
- Visit the ServiceNow store.
- Sign in with your Now Support Customer Administrator account.
- Search for the "Language Translation Services by Language IO" application.
- Open the application listing and click "Get".
- Language IO will receive a notification and approve your request.
- Once approved by Language IO, you will be notified via email.
Installing the Application
Once your request to install is approved, you may install the application in your ServiceNow instance:
- From the ServiceNow top-nav, go to Admin → Application Manager.
- Under the "Available for you" tab, search for "Language Translation Services by Language IO".
- Click on the application.
- In the "Get started" section, click "Install".
- Click "Install" again in the pop-up window.
- The pop-up window reports installation progress. Once installation is completed, you will see a "Successfully installed" message, and the pop-up may be closed.
Configuring the Language IO Connection
- In the ServiceNow top-nav, click the "globe" icon and change the "Application scope" to "Language IO Translator Service Spoke".
- From the ServiceNow top-nav, go to All → Language IO Translator Service Spoke → Configuration → "Connection & Credentials Aliases".
- Open the "Language IO” record.
- Under the "Connections" tab, click the "Language IO Customer ID" credential associated with the "Language IO" record.
- In the "User name" field, enter your Language IO username.
- In the "Password" field, enter your Language IO password.
- Check the "Active" checkbox.
- Click "Update" to save your changes.
Configuring the Language IO Translator Configuration
- In the ServiceNow top-nav, click the "globe" icon and change the "Application scope" to "Language IO Translator Service Spoke".
- From the ServiceNow top-nav, go to All → Dynamic Translation → "Translator Configurations".
- Click to open the "Language IO" record.
- Check the "Active" checkbox.
- Under the "Preferences" tab, check the "Mark as default for translation" and "Mark as default for detection" checkboxes.
- Under the "Language Code Mappings" tab, click the "lock" icon.

Add a language code mapping for each language enabled in your Language IO account:
Note: Language IO will provide the list of language code mappings you should add.- In the "Select target record" search box, search for each language code mapping by the leading two-letter language code. For example, if the code mapping to add is "de -> de_DE", search "de".
- Click the language code mapping to add it to the list.
- In the "Select target record" search box, search for each language code mapping by the leading two-letter language code. For example, if the code mapping to add is "de -> de_DE", search "de".
- Click "Update" to save your changes.

Open and deactivate all other Translator Configuration records.
- Click on the name of the configuration.
- Uncheck the "Active" checkbox.
- Click "Update" to save your changes.
Important: Only the "Language IO" Translator Configuration should remain active.
✅ Language IO is now configured as your ServiceNow Dynamic Translation service provider and will provide translations wherever ServiceNow gives your agents and users the option to translate content.
