Creating a Named Credential (Setting up Named Credentials, part 2)
Reusing Named Credentials
You can reuse Named Credentials between Salesforce Case, Chat and Messaging. However, if you use Case or Chat and Article, Language I/O must create a separate Customer ID for Article (and you must create a separate Named Credential). If you have any doubt, contact your Language I/O Customer Success Manager.
Using Basic Authentication with Named Credentials
- Before you start, you must create an External Credential for Basic Auth if you do not have one already. Follow the instructions in the linked article, then return here to resume the creation of your Named Credential.
- In Salesforce, go to Setup > Named Credentials and click on the "New" button:
- Fill in your desired Label, Name and URL:
The Name field can contain only underscores and alphanumeric characters. The chosen name must be unique, begin with a letter, not include spaces, not end with an underscore, and not contain two consecutive underscores.
In the URL field, fill in the Language I/O server that you use. This is typically the US server, unless your Customer Success Manager instructs you otherwise: - In Authentication, select the External Credential from the dropdown menu:
Note: Agents must have the permissions to use the External Credential Principal selected (See Assigning External Principal Access with permission sets). You typically do not need to add a Client Certificate. - In the Callout Options, make sure that "Generate Authorization Header" is checked OFF and "Allow Formulas in HTTP Header" is checked ON:
- In Managed Package Access, type the following depending on your product:
- Case: LanguageIO
- Chat: LanguageIOLA
- Article: LIOAT
- Messaging: Lio
- API plugin (Chatbot): Lio
- Click Save to save the Named Credential.
