Supported File Types

Considerations

Please consider the following when using Language IO's file translation feature:

1. File security properties like password and page extraction protections must be disabled.
2. Language IO may not be able to extract text from low-resolution files.
3. Translated files may include visual artifacts of the OCR and file reconstruction process. Most will not impact translation comprehensibility. Language IO recommends cross-referencing the translated file with the source file.
4. Translated text will be black and may not be legible against dark backgrounds. Language IO recommends adjusting the background color or copying translated text onto a lighter background.
5. The target language code will be appended to the translated file name. For example, if "invoice.pdf" is translated into French, the translated file name will be "invoice_fr-fr.pdf".
6. PDFs translated by Google will be watermarked "Machine translated by Google".
7. Non-Latin text in programmatically generated PDFs may be inaccurately translated. Language IO recommends reformatting such PDFs as images before translating.
8. Rotated (vertical) text in PDFs must be rotated to a standard horizontal reading direction for translation.
9. XLSX translations consume credits at your "MTA per word" rate. All other file translations consume credits at your "MTA per page" rate.
