Translating Web Pages with Language IO Secure Page Translator
Note: You must have installed the Language IO Secure Page Translator and log in to use the extension.
Translating Web Pages with Language IO Secure Page Translator
- In your browser's extension tray, click the Language IO icon (
) to open the extension.
- Or, click the Extensions icon (
/
), and click "Language IO Secure Page Translator".
- Or, click the Extensions icon (
- The extension automatically detects the language of the web page you are on. The "From" language field is updated with the detected language. The "Into" translation language is set to your browser’s preferred language by default.
- To update the "From" language, from the dropdown, choose "Detect Language" to detect the language of the web page once you begin translating, or select a language.
- To update the "Into" language, select a language from the dropdown.

Turn on the "Automatically translate pages into..." toggle to automatically translate new pages you visit:
Note: This feature may not be available if your organization has disabled it. - Click the Translate button to open the translation companion window and begin translating the web page text in place:
Translation Companion Window Controls
- Turn translation off using this toggle. This prevents new content from being translated as you scroll.
- Use the "From/Into" language toggle to switch between the original and translated versions of the page.
- If any page elements were not translated, you can click this button to try translating the page again.
- To return to the main extension menu and change languages, or to open the text translation sidebar or Translation Profile switcher, click this icon.
- Click in this area and drag to move the companion window.
Note: Not all web pages and web page elements can be translated in place.
- Concealed elements, such as dropdown menus, may not be translated.
- Web pages that block content scripts cannot be translated.
- Elements with non-selectable text, such as images, cannot be translated.

Tip: Using the extension to translate web pages consumes credits. Language IO recommends:
- Turn on web page translation only when necessary.
- Before you turn on web page translation, navigate to the web page that requires translation, close pop-ups (e.g., cookie consent), and bring the desired content into view.
- Regularly monitor your credit usage.
