Release Notes - Language IO for Salesforce Article
These are the Release Notes for Language IO for Salesforce Article.
Please see the installation instructions in Setting up Language IO Article in Salesforce (admin guide) for the installation link.
v1.21 (2025.04.23)
Fixed
Non admin users unable to access articles
A bug was found where sometimes, a non-admin Knowledge user would receive an error when they searched for a certain topic through the Article app, even though they had the correct permissions to view these articles and topics in the Knowledge object. This is now fixed.
v1.20 (2024.04.25)
Improved
Allowing new projects to proceed when one project is stuck at "Awaiting Customer Approval"
We made improvements to the error handling capabilities of the Language IO Articles app so that even if a project is stuck at the "Awaiting Customer Approval" status and quotes are turned off in your instance, you can still submit new projects for translation as applicable.
Fixed
Machine Translation projects status stuck at "Submitting Project" indefinitely
A bug was found where sometimes, projects would be created successfully and routed to the Machine Translation environment where they would be marked as "Finished", but the status of the project in the Language IO Article app would be stuck as “Submitting Project” indefinitely. This is now fixed so that the status progresses as expected during the lifetime of the project.
v1.19 (2023.06.15)
Improved
Improved clarity with Project Management
When a user kicks off a translation project, they will no longer see old options such as “Rush Start” or “Detailed Quote” in the “Translation Cost Estimate” page. These options came from legacy versions and no longer fit with current projects. We removed these obsolete listings to improve the clarity of the process and make sure users are not misled when it comes to what options are available.
The window is now set so that only the “Auto Start” option is visible. It is checked by default and cannot be unchecked.
In addition, we also removed mentions of additional "Project Management Fee". We updated the app to reflect the fact that Language IO plans are all-inclusive, and there are no longer additional fees for Project Management.
"Quote" is now optional for project approval
It is now possible for organizations to submit a project for translation directly, without requesting or approving a quote first. To allow this, admins can toggle off a new option called "Enable Quote" in the Language IO plugin's Custom Settings. This removes the "Request Quote" step and replaces it it with "Submit Project", and moves the project directly to "Translation in Progress".
Sending additional information when "Quote" is disabled
Because the "Quote" process is now optional (see the previous note), we inserted the possibility for users to send a note when they submit a project and the quote feature is disabled, so that they can communicate any special requests or requirements for the project to the localization project manager.
Fixed
Recurring "fr-fr" error when submitting a translation project
A bug was found where, when a user submitted a project for translation, the system returned an error about French (fr-fr) not being supported, regardless of the actual target language of the project:
This is now fixed and the project submission process no longer shows this error.
v1.18 (2023.01.04)
New
New permissions in User Settings for the review and approval of quotes
Salesforce Article admins can now configure permissions for users to view and approve quotes for requested translations. Previously, all users could view and approve quotes, which could lead to agents approving quotes without being authorized to do so by their organization.
Users with the permissions will see the Quote and Cost links in blue:
Users who do not have the permission will see the links deactivated and greyed out:

With this new permission setting, admins now have an additional layer of safety and control. This will make it easier for admins, managers and agents to clarify who can review and approve expenses for their article translations.
For more information about how to set up this feature, see [link to Help Center article]
New "Auto-Publish" setting
Salesforce admins can now configure their Language IO Salesforce Article to publish the translated articles automatically by default upon creation of the translation project.
When enabled, the Publish toggle on the project creation page is automatically toggled by default:

New export tool for record/article types and related fields
We created a new extraction tool to help admins configure their Language IO Salesforce Article plugin in the best conditions. The new tool, once set up, automatically extracts all the article types and fields in your Salesforce Article instance and exports them to a CSV file. Admins can then easily specify for each field if they are to be included in future translations or not. Finally, when they finish their review, they simply send the file to their Language IO Client Support representative to finish the configuration of the plugin.
Before, the extraction process was manual, which was time-consuming and could lead to human error. Now, this new automatic extract tool greatly reduces the amount of time needed to configure the Language IO Salesforce Article plugin.
For more information about the Article Extract tool, see Setting up Article Type Extraction and Using Article Type Extraction in the Help Center.
Improved
Search now available for blank record types
Lightning users can now expand their search in the Language IO Salesforce Article plugin to include blank records. This improves user experience as users can now send articles to translation even when no Record Types exist on their org. Previously, a Record Type was needed to request a translation.
Fixed
Deleting draft translations in queue after a project is cancelled
When you cancel a project, this deletes the XTM project and all the draft translations in the Translation Queue as well. Before, cancellation of the project deleted the project in XTM, but sometimes did not delete the queued drafts. This bug affected projects in Absaroka Classic version 1.12. This is now fixed.
Error message when requesting an unsupported locale
When you create a project with a locale that is not supported in your account, the system now returns the correct error message:
Error: Your account isn't set up to support the locale(s) 'xx' requested
Before, the system returned a generic server error 400. This affected version 1.15 of the plugin. This is now fixed.
Error message when requesting an unsupported language pair
When you create a project with language pairs that are not supported in your account, the system now returns the correct error message:
Error: No vendors support the language pair for the given translation type HUMAN, source locale [XX], and target locales [YY]. Please contact support@languageio.com with error code 508:XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Before, the system returned a generic server error 500. This affected version 1.15 of the plugin. This is now fixed.
