Installing Language I/O for Intercom Tickets & Live Chat
The purpose of the article is to guide Intercom admins through the different steps required to install the Language I/O application in your Intercom workspace.
Prerequisite
- You must have an existing Intercom workspace and Intercom admin credentials to install the Language I/O application.
Installing Language I/O for Intercom Tickets & Live Chat
- If you do not have a Language I/O account yet, contact your Language I/O Customer Success manager or contact sales@languageio.com. You will need your account credentials for Step 5.
- Configure your Intercom workspace (Language I/O recommends that you do this before installing the app. You may do it after you install the Language I/O app, but the app will not work as expected until these attributes exist):
- Log in to your Intercom environment.
- Create the following custom conversation attributes in settings > data > conversations. These are used to store custom field data at the conversation level. Do not mark attributes required, or limit visibility to users that have access to use the app. Copy the field names exactly, including capitalization. The description is purely informative, only the name and format values are important to the app functionality.
Name Format Description LIO_Detected_Locale Text Customer locale code detected by Language I/O. LIO_Autotranslation_Enabled Boolean Determines whether inbound messages are automatically translated. The default value is false. LIO_Agent_Locale Text The default value is en-us.
Changing the custom attribute value will change the target language for inbound translations, and the source language for outbound translations.LIO_Response_ID Number Unique ID assigned by LIO to each conversation.
- Go to the Intercom App Store and search for Language I/O in the search bar:
- Select the Language I/O app and click Install (or Sign in to Install if you are not logged in).
- During the installation process, the system prompts you to log in to the golinguist portal with your Language I/O Credentials.
- Grant the Language I/O app permission to access Intercom data.
- The app is installed and ready for use.
