Using Multi-factor Authentication with Language I/O
If you have an Administrator or Manager account with Language I/O, that is an account that has the permissions to manage users and glossaries, you must activate Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to better protect your account against unauthorized access.
Steps
- When you first log in, the following prompt appears the next time you log in, before you can access your account:
Note: MFA is mandatory for administrator and manager accounts, but is not required for user accounts. You are not notified by email when your user account gets upgraded to an administrator or manager account, but the MFA prompt appears at your next login attempt. - Using the Authenticator application of your choice, scan the QR code to create your new Language I/O record, then enter the given code. The next screen appears with a recovery code for you to save:
- Keep the recovery code in a safe location.
You can now use the Authenticator app to confirm every time you log in to Language I/O.
Frequently Asked Question
I don't have an authenticator app. What do I do?
Consult with your organization's administrator to see what authenticator app to use. You must have an authenticator app to configure MFA and use your account.
I have Language I/O in my authenticator app, but Language I/O says my one-time code is invalid. What do I do?
If you encounter issues, delete the Language I/O entry in the application, then submit a Support request to reset the MFA for your account. After it is reset, you should be prompted with a new QR code to scan the next time you log in.
If your authenticator app is not working and you need to log in immediately, you can also use your recovery code to log in: click “Try another method” when prompted for your MFA code, then select “Recovery code” to proceed.
Keep in mind that your recovery code is only valid for a single use. This means that each time you use a recovery code, a new one will be generated. Make sure to save and store it in a safe location.
What to do if Language I/O does not force you to set up 2FA, but you want to set it up anyway
This is not currently supported by Language I/O. However you can achieve a similar level of security by using Single Sign-On.
