Submitting Localization Requests to the Language I/O Document Translation Portal
What is it?
You can submit translation projects through the Language I/O Document Translation Portal.
The document translation portal is not a self service portal. Before you can use it, you must contact your Customer Success Manager Language for configuration prior to use.
Language I/O provides this service at no additional cost.
How to use the document translation portal
As a rule, you should use this portal if you need regular (that is, more than four times a month) localization work and requests outside of the article application.
You can use the document translation portal for Machine Translation (MT), Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE), or Human Translation (HT).

Submitting a project
- Open your browser and go to https://languageio.portal.xtm-intl.com/lio-client- portal-manual-translation-requests/
- Login with your email and password (if this is your first time logging into the portal, click the "forgot password" button to create a new password).
- From the "introduction / instruction" page, click on "Request Translation" in the navigation bar at the top of the page:
- The "Request Translation" page opens:
- Upload or drag and drop a file for translation. You can either:
- upload multiple files, or
- paste the text you want to translate. There is no character limit, however only the first 250 words will be visible to you on the translation confirmation page.
- Choose a template from the dropdown menu. Template options are based on workflows that were configured upon setup after discussing with the Localization and CSM team. These may include, but are not limited to:
- MT-only template: Only Machine Translation.
- MTPE-only template: Machine Translation with human Post-Editing.
- HT-only template: Full Human Translation.
- If you have reference files, you can add them to support translation. These could include, but are not limited to: UI screenshots, larger file context, style preferences, etc.
- Click on the Add reference files button and either drag and drop the files or upload the files
- Click Next. The following screen opens:
- Choose your Source Language: This is the original language of the files. You can only choose one source language per project. If you have source files in different languages, you must create one project for each language.
- Choose your Target Language(s): This sets the language or languages you want to translate the file(s) to. You can choose multiple target languages, however this must be consistent across all content submitted for translation. This means that if you select several target languages, all files will be translated to these languages.
- Give a unique name to your project for easy reference. If you do not specify a name, the system generates one automatically.
- Enter any additional comments you may have for Language I/O, such as due date, any special formatting requirements, etc.
- When you finish, click Send request.
After you submit
After you click Send request, the task is forwarded to Language I/O for processing.
You can view projects you requested under the XTM Project tab.
You can download translations once completed from this page:
- After the status changes to "Completed", click on the hamburger menu to the left of the project.
- Select "Download target file for language".
- A pop-up opens, with options to download specific languages or all languages.
- Once you have chosen the languages you want to download, click download.
- Files download to your computer
