Assigning External Principal Access with permission sets (Setting up Named Credentials, part 3)
Now that you created your Named Credentials, you must assign them to the relevant Permission Sets.
Assigning External Principal Access with permission sets
In order for translations to be processed, agents must be assigned a profile or permission set with External Credential Principal Access. To assign a permission set, follow these steps:
- Go to Setup > Permissions Sets.
- Create or edit a permission set, and click External Credential Principal Access:
(Click to enlarge) - Make sure that the required External Credential Principal is enabled, and click Save:
(Click to enlarge) - Click Manage Assignments:
- The list of user accounts assigned to this permission set opens. To add an agent, click Add Assignment:
- Select one or more agents to add. Click Next .
- Define an expiration period if applicable, or leave "Never expires" selected, then click Assign.
- The selected agent is now assigned this permission set and its External Credential Principal Access permission:
- Go back to Setup > Permission Sets and select Object Settings.
- In Permission Sets, make sure to give your agents Read access for the "User External Credentials" standard object.
Important: If agents do not have Read access, their authentication will fail.
Assigning External Principal Access to enable the Quality Rating Flag for end users
For Salesforce Chat, if you intend to use the Customer Quality Flag feature (where end users can flag the quality of translations) and your org uses the new Named Credentials described on this page (not the legacy ones), you must grant the guest (or unauthenticated user, or user profile) that will use the Flag the same External Credential Principal Access as granted to your agents.
To do so, repeat the steps from the previous section for the relevant user profile or guest account, like you did with agents.
