Enabling Basic Auth in Salesforce
Note: This article is aimed at Salesforce Administrators who need to configure Language I/O applications. Basic Auth is used to deliver Rapid Human Translation in the Language I/O app for Salesforce Case and Language I/O app for Salesforce Articles.
Steps
- Create a user in Salesforce (or use an existing user) with the permissions required for Language I/O to be able to make callbacks into Salesforce to deliver Rapid Human Translations for Cases and Human Translations for Articles.
- Make sure that the account has the necessary permissions:
- For Case, the user must have edit permissions for the following fields:
- Case.Description
- Case.Subject
- Task.Related To
- Task.Comments
- Task.Due Date
- Event.Related To
- Event.Description
- For Articles, the user must be configured as follows:
- Go to Administrative Permissions and enable "Manage Salesforce Knowledge".
- Go to "Data Category Visibility" (in Setup > Profiles > {the relevant profile}) and enable visibility of the relevant Data Categories for Knowledge Articles. This is useful to help narrow down the search criteria when users start a translation project.
- Go to General User Permissions and enable the following permissions:
- Article Translation - Edit
- Article Translation - Publish
- Article Translation - Submit for Translation
- In User Details, set the user to be a "Knowledge User".
- For Case, the user must have edit permissions for the following fields:
- Share the username and password of the Salesforce user account, along with its security token, with Language I/O Support so that it can be securely stored and connected to your Language I/O account. If you do not know what your security token is, contact your Salesforce administrator.
