Managing your API Key
The Language IO API requires that requests be authenticated with a valid API key. You can retrieve and rotate your API key in the Language IO Customer Self-Service Portal.
Retrieving your API Key
- Log in to the Customer Self-Service Portal.
- Open the API menu and select API Key:
- In the Authentication Key section:
- If you have not previously generated a key, the "API Key" field will be empty, as in the above image. Click Generate new API key to generate an API key.
- Your key is masked by default. Click the "Eye" icon (
) to view it.
- To copy the key, click the "Copy" icon (
).
Rotating your API Key
Important: When you generate a new API key, your existing API key is automatically set to expire in 14 days. Once expired, it is no longer valid. You must make requests using your new key.
- To rotate your existing key, click Generate new API key.
- A warning informs you that a new key will be generated, and your existing key will be scheduled to expire in 14 days.
- To proceed, click Generate new API key & expire the current key in 14 days.
- The status of your existing key is updated and shows its scheduled expiration date. Below the existing key, a new key is generated. Its status shows that it is active with no expiration.
Note: Deleting your API key immediately revokes its validity. It cannot be recovered. If you delete your new API key, the expiration date will be removed from your previous key.
