Adding a glossary entry in the Language I/O Service Portal
You can now edit your glossary entries directly from the Language I/O Service Portal. This allows support teams to be much more flexible and responsive when a linguistic issue comes up that requires a glossary correction.
Important: Access to the glossary editor requires admin-level permissions. If you cannot find this feature in your Language I/O portal, please contact your Customer Success Manager for more details.
Editing a glossary entry
To edit a glossary entry, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Service Portal.
- Open the Settings section:
- Open the Glossary tab:
- Click the Add new row button:
- A new, empty row opens. Fill in the source and target words:
- Make your changes as needed. When you finish, click the Save icon (top checkmark), or click the cross icon to cancel without saving your changes:
- After you save your changes, the status of the entry changes to “New term”:
Caution: Your changes are not saved at this point. If you try to reload or leave the page, a pop-up opens to warn you that you may lose your unsaved changes:
- Repeat steps 4 to 6 as applicable until your edits are complete.
- When you are ready to save your changes, click the Confirm Changes button at the bottom of the page:
- Review your updates. If everything is correct, click Publish Changes to Glossary:
- The page reloads to show you a report of the changes that you implemented. Click Return to Glossary to return to the main page:
Important: Glossaries are not bi-directional: this means that if you add a term in an English to French glossary, this does not add the term in the French to English glossary.
About non-editable entries
You may find that some entries in your glossary are set to read-only (not editable). These include all regular expressions ("regex") terms, which are specially encoded terms that match and replace complex content patterns, and may include other protected terms.
These entries are created and managed by Language I/O and are set as read-only when added to the glossary. To create or modify a read-only entry, you must submit a Support request.
