Using the Language I/O Chrome Extension
After you install the Language I/O Chrome Extension, a Language I/O icon is visible in the top right corner of your browser, next to the Chrome menu.
Signing up or logging in with your account
If you already have an account, log in to start using the extension. If you do not have an account yet, your company's internal Language I/O administrator can create one for you.
If your company is not a Language I/O customer and you want to set up a trial account, create an account here. To learn more about Language I/O, fill out this form and a Language I/O representative will get in touch within 24 hours.
Important: If you have an account but have not reset it yet, see Reactivating your account in the Language I/O Chrome extension.
- In the dialog, click the Log in option:
- Enter your details, and click Continue:
Using the extension
- Click the icon to open the extension, and select Open Translate Sidebar:
Tip: You can also right-click on the text that you want to translate and click select "Language I/O - Translate" to open the extension.
The extension loads in the sidebar with the highlighted text automatically populating the source text field (no cutting and pasting required). Simply select the “From” and “Into” languages, then click Translate (see Step 3 below). - The sidebar opens to the right of your browser:
- Copy the text that you want to translate and paste it into the source field. Select the source and target languages (in this example, English and French respectively), then click the Translate button:
Note: If you paste the text before you select a source language, the extension detects the language automatically. Make sure that the locale detected is correct before you continue. - (Optional) Once the extension returns the translation, click the "copy" icon to copy the translated text and paste it where applicable.
- To close the sidebar, click the "close" icon in the top right corner of the sidebar:
Other options
- Click the menu icon at the top to open the extension menu:
- A menu opens with various options:
- Account: View your account details and enter or update the API Key (see Installing the Language I/O Chrome Extension).
- Contact Us: Open a contact form to get in touch with a Language I/O representative.
- Help Center: Open the Language I/O Help Center.
- Sign Out: This action logs the current user out. You must log in again to use the extension.
